Ethical and Sustainable Responsibility
We do not own any manufacturing facilities, but we take steps to ensure the partners we work with are managed to the highest possible ethical and social standards.
Betty Basics seeks to work with manufacturers that have accreditation to prove they are BSCI compliant. The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) is a world leading supply chain management system which supports companies in driving compliance and improvements within their supply chains. BSCI provides companies with auditing methodology and reporting tools to help audit, train and influence activities to improve labor conditions and offer safe and positive working environments for factory staff.
As a brand, we want to align with manufacturers who hold the same strong beliefs and are transparent regarding their ethical, social and ecological business standards. These standards fit into 8 key categories:
- Protection of Workers and Zero Child Labor
- Fair and Equal Pay
- Reasonable Working Hours
- Clean and Safe Working Environments
- Positive Health and Wellbeing
- Staff Training and Development
- Reduced Inequalities and Gender Equality
- Adequate Social Space and Activities
Betty Basics is taking steps towards working solely with factories that score well in the above categories in external BSCI audits as well committed to improving sustainability practices by adopting progress through offering a range of sustainable fibers in our design from recycled fibers to BCI accredited Cotton purchased from aligned BCI Member suppliers.
We are adopting progress and working towards a future where we can be certain that every article of clothing from Betty Basics label is manufactured in a fair, sustainable and safe factory by a well-paid, well-trained and happy worker.
