Betty Cares Foundation Turns 5!

Betty Cares Foundation Turns 5!

Betty Cares Foundation is proud to have been supporting women in crisis across Australia and New Zealand for the last 5 years.

Betty Cares Foundation was born from the passion and desire to give back to the community from Sass Clothing small business owners Talitha Becker and Sandy Cameron. Inspired by a simple request from The Royal Women's Hospital's then Philanthropic Manager, Susie Greig-Rouffignac, for a donation of essential clothing items for their vulnerable patients. Susie identified an extraordinary need for new suitable clothing for women in crisis, she “saw women from interstate go into early labour with no support, assault victims whose clothes were taken for evidence, homeless women who still needed medical care, and more”.

Following the overwhelming success of this partnership the Betty Cares Foundation was born and developed into what it is today.

In the last 5 years Betty Cares Foundation has donated over 20,000 clothing packs through our partnerships with more than 200 hospitals and refuge centres caring for women in crisis, across Australia and New Zealand. Betty Cares Foundation is proud to have donated over $2,600,000 in value.

Talitha and Sandy are pleased with what they have achieved, but Sandy said they are “most proud of the impact the clothing packs have made; it is the first-hand stories of women in challenging circumstances and the difference they have made in vulnerable moments.” The sense of dignity, hope, self-worth and care that a set of new clothing offers is our greatest achievement.

We recently spoke with some of our healthcare partners, and they shared their experience with the Betty Cares Foundation and the difference they see our clothing packs make. Watch the video here:
